Seduce: to win over; attract

Yarn seduces me with her siren call. "Pick me! Pick me!" I am hopelessly enchanted by yarn and am delighted by the endless choices.

New Month

New Challenges Projects

But first.... a report on Six Sock September
Sadly I did not meet the challenge.  I had too many other things going on.  But!  I did get 2 complete socks done and no, they are not from the same pair.

First sock done, Winter Fir (I guess I forgot to take a picture :sheepish grin:  I'll get one taken tomorrow)

Second sock done and mate is done through clue 3, SKA Sep/Oct Mystery Sock

Third sock, Weeping Angel (still lovin' this sock!!)

I also finished the test mittens and they were put in the mail last week.

And now for the new...
Yep, it is another pair of fingerless mitts!

There is a new mystery sock for the Solid Sock group.  I did print off Clue 1 but haven't decided if I'll start it yet.
I do have a few sock mates to work on. hehehe

AND tournament 6 of  Nerd Wars starts today! I did look at the challenges but haven't figured out yet what knitting to do for them.

Happy knitting y'all!

Clue 2 finished on sock 1 (after taking out 12 rnds and redoing them!)

Weeping Angel
Lovin' this pattern!!

Winter Fir
I know, I know, it looks like it did last week... that is because I knitted the leg and discovered it was too small!  so I started over.  What you are seeing is the cuff done on bigger needles. :sigh:

Six Sock September

Six Sock September is a September Sock challenge! The challenge? To knit or crochet 6 Socks (3 pairs) during September.

Why yes, I did join this Ravelry group and accepted the challenge.

First sock started...also will count for the SKA (Sock Knitters Anonymous) Sep/Oct Mystery KAL
I'm using The Loopy Ewe Solid Series in Cardinal.

Second sock started... my own pattern
I'm working on a pattern for an advance sock class I'll teach in October.

Third sock not started yet... Weeping Angel... also will count for the Sep Solid Sock - white

So now you know what I'll be working on in addition to the other projects I have in the works, hehehe.

Dragon Swap and finished socks

JudyS from Stitch Along With Me was my swap buddy for a Dragon themed swap hosted by KathyB at
Irisheyesknitters: My Yarn Garden.  And what wonderful goodies I received.

A fingerless mitt pattern, Dragon Scales; some luscious Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in my favorite colors; a bar of handcrafted soap with essentials oils and botanicals (for dry, dragon skin); a box of tea; a washcloth; and the cutest dragon ever!  You push on his back and fire (pretend) shoots out his mouth and his wings fly up!  Cute!!  Also she sent a book.  We had been talking about how much we like reading mysteries so JudyS sent one by Mary Daheim, a local author to her.  And the setting of the book is a fictional place based on a real place not far from her.  I can't wait to read it.  Thank you JudyS for a wonderful package.  And a big thank you to KathyB for another great swap!

And now for the first finished socks of 2012
(and it's not even the end of January yet!  I might be able to get a pair done a month, lol)

It's a mystery

It's a mystery why I like mysteries so much.  Or maybe not.  Maybe I like the unknown and the surprises it brings with each turn of a page in a good mystery book or getting a clue once a week for a mystery knit.

Of course my favorite is Mystery Socks!
Through the Loops 2012 Mystery Sock, Clue 1
Yes, this is the same sock I tried to start when I had a fever.  I know, I know, Clue 2 has come out and I don't have it finished yet and today Clue 3 has come out.  I've been busy on some other mystery knitting.

Like...
MinKnits Mystery Fingerless Mitts Clue 2
(Notice how I skipped right over showing you Clue 1?  It was only a little bit of cuff anyway.  I'm using some leftover Rowan Creative Focus Worsted.  And yes, they will go with my black and red scarf.)

And then I've been working on my favorite pattern this month
SKA Mystery Sock, Blathnat, Clue 2
Clue 3 is out today and yes! I will be working on these socks today!!  (the yarn is more green than the picture shows but then I never said I was a photographer, hehehe.  I'm more like SuzyHomeMaker, hahahahha)

I should know better

Do NOT try to knit when you are sick!

After two tries, I decided it was best if I just went back to bed.
Can't believe I have a cold and today is in the 70s!!!  Something must have blown in on Tuesday's wind.

Finished cowl & Hagrid socks

I finished the Shawl Collared Cowl.

Now all I have to do is find buttons.

I am very happy with this cowl.  I won't have to pull it over my head.  It is very soft! (baby alpaca).  And I think it will be just enough around my neck for the cool mornings this fall.

The yarn called for is Misti Alpaca Chunky (which I do not have) so I substituted  Cascade Pure Alpaca.  It is a worsted weight yarn but I got gauge so I went with it.

More info found on my ravelry page.

And I finished (can't remember if I posted about it) Hagrid's Motorcycle Socks.  Mystery solved!

Love, love, love, these socks!!  It is a great pattern, easy, and works up quickly.

More info found here.

Now to wind up some yarn for Gringott's Goblin Socks.

WIP Wednesday

Almost done with Hagrid's Motorcycle socks
I should get the second sock done by tomorrow.

And I worked on the Solid Sock Sep/Oct Mystery Sock. I'm working on the heel which isn't showing in the picture.
I am using String Theory Caper Sock (it has cashmere!! and it feels wonderful to work with)

And I worked on the Shawl Collared Cowl.
I am using Cascade Pure Alpaca (100% baby alpaca) in blue and size US 6 & US 7 needles. I know the pattern calls for US 8 & US 9 but to get gauge I had to go down two needles sizes! (mentioned in previous blog).  I love the yarn and the pattern. The yarn is so soft and will feel wonderfully warm around my neck. (I do hope we get a few cold days this winter)  The pattern is well written and is working up quickly. Great pattern!!

WIP Wednesday

... on a Thursday

There was some trouble loading clue 4 for Hagrid's Motorcycle socks (red). So... while waiting... I started the Solid Sock Group Sep/Oct Mystery sock (blue).

The clue was finally loaded but since it took so long, they also loaded clue 5. So now I can finish Hagrid's socks. I'm about 4 inches shy of finishing the foot & toe on the first sock. Meanwhile, clue 2 has come out for the blue sock.

In other news, I pulled some DMC threads for a Christmas stocking I need to start stitching.
