Seduce: to win over; attract

Yarn seduces me with her siren call. "Pick me! Pick me!" I am hopelessly enchanted by yarn and am delighted by the endless choices.

More Rain?

Yesterday we had a wonderful rain storm.  Wonderful in that we finally got some rain and some relief from the scorching high temperatures.

But it did rain hard enough and the ground was dry enough there was flooding in some areas of town.  Even the yards had puddles!

We had to drain the pool twice!
I'm not complaining.  Just saying.  We had a steady rain most of the morning.

So this morning was overcast.  Dare I hope?  Yes!!! We had a 2 minutes shower.  And then 5 minutes later we had 15 shower!!  Go rain!
Let's hope there is more rain out there for today.

Relief

The other night we had a sprinkle of rain.  I'm talking less than 5 minutes of the sky spitting on us.  It was just enough to make dirt spots on the car.

Imagine my surprise when I woke up to this...
...dare I hope it would get worse and rain?!

Yes!!! about 30 minutes later the sky opened up
Mr Gnome doesn't mind getting wet

It is still raining.  Why yes, I am surprised because of all the times we get spit.  I hope it rains all day.  Even though the rain barrels can't keep up.

The temperature is even cooler!  It is about 70 instead of the usual 106.  We are truly blessed with this wonderful rainstorm.

The Sun?!

After two weeks of rain, everything is green again. Our grass is in need of cutting and it hasn't even been a week since the last cut!! The parks are beautiful and the trees have enjoyed the rain.
Today the sun is out and the temperatures are once again climbing into the 90s. All this rain is a bit unusual for us for this time of year. Usually it is HOT with temperatures in the 100s (I hear the east coast is getting hit the hot and steamy weather).

I enjoyed the past two weeks of 80 degree temperatures BUT I seem to have caught a cold. I thought it was allergies but with the rain, there is no pollen. So it must be a cold. It's hard to knit with watery eyes and sniffling all the time. So no new finished projects to show today... maybe next week.

Rainy Days

It's raining, it's pouring...
The weatherman got it right!! We had rain all day Wed. and today (so far) it is misting. There is a 20% chance of rain today and 50% chance tonight! AND a 70% chance on Fri. So bring on the rain!! We need it.

But, along with the rain comes cooler temperatures. So we are not done with winter yet. Which of course I am ok with because I don't want to go immediately to 90 degrees. I like to have the three month build up of the weather getting warmer and warmer.

But when the temperatures are cooler it is so nice to cosy up to a fire in the fireplace (which we'll have in the house we're moving into next week) and knit (or read).

So yesterday, I was snuggled under blankets, catching up on CSI, and working on a demo sock for a sock class that I am going to teach for the Wool n' Cotton shop. And I did get a little knitting on the Sockdown! Feb sock done. I didn't get much reading done.

Today I have errands to do so not much knitting will get done during the day but more reading will be done!
