Yarn seduces me with her siren call. "Pick me! Pick me!" I am hopelessly enchanted by yarn and am delighted by the endless choices.

WIP Wednesday
Emma's Star Beret from the Sock Yarn One-Skein Wonders book (at least a start to it)
It's a top down construction. I've never done a hat this way before. I'm using Zara a 100% merino superwash DK weight and US 4 needles.
So far I'm liking it.
I knitted one top down once, but I made it too short. Hard to believe when you can try it on as you go, but I was true beginner then and anxious to finish... ha ha hah. Love your greens
My grandmother taught me embroidery when I was eight. When I was ten, she taught me to crochet. I learned to knit (not well) in junior high. In the 70's, needlepoint became my next art. It was while living in Italy, my English friend started me knitting again. Knitting has been my passion ever since.

Nice-looking hat.
Oh, I love that! I might have to "copy" you... Off to explore stash and find that book in my library.
That pattern looks really pretty.
I like it!!! You know, top down seems a very GOOD way to make a hat. I guess you just need to make sure you use a very stretchy bind off.
I like the look of it so far. I don't think I have ever tried starting a hat top down.

Ooo, that is gorgeous, both yarn and pattern. I also love the fingerless mitts you finished for yourself.
btw, my blog "Vintage Comfort" got hacked and virused so I started a new blog: Mary's Vintage Comforts". Stop by any time.
