Seduce: to win over; attract

Yarn seduces me with her siren call. "Pick me! Pick me!" I am hopelessly enchanted by yarn and am delighted by the endless choices.

Another pair of socks!

Ta da!!!
I finished the YOSS July and Solid Sock July socks.  But sadly not by the end of July.  But! they fit perfect and I love them (even though they are white).

And in case you're wondering what my initial bag looks like with the needlepoint attached....
... I love it!!!  (and yes, I do have the next needlepoint project ready to start)

Time

It is August already?!
Where has all the time gone?
And I didn't get the July sock finished in time to qualify for a prize.
But, I am close.  I expect to have these finished in another day or two and you know what that means...
yep... I get to start August's sock!!  The Solid Sock group has a mystery sock for August.  I must wind some yarn for a mystery!!

FO Friday

I have been a terrible blogger this week.  But on a happy note, I have finished socks to show!!
and since I missed WIP Wednesday, I thought I'd throw in a WIP...
I did work on the shawl this week but it looks the same so I didn't take another picture (maybe next week)

WIP Wednesday

And this week's winners are...
...the YOSS Jun Monkey sock.  One down, one to go. (hey! at least I started the mate, lol)

 The initial bag needlepoint piece...
...loving it!  I didn't care for the white I picked out to use around my initial.  I'll have to look for something else.  I'd like to work a brick stitch (vertical) around my initial.  It is addicting to work on this little piece.

I have totally ignored my shawl and Advent Calendar scarf for the week.  But...

...you know I couldn't resist starting the YOSS Jul sock...
Pattern: Catherine by Kate Blackburn (scroll down the page until you reach Catherine)
          Yarn: Knit Picks Bare
Needles: Hiya Hiya 9" circular, US 1/2.25mm

I am loving this pattern!  and since I'm working the socks in white, it will count for the Solid Socks July Socks.  sweet!!

(you do know I'm not done with casting on for July socks, don't ya?!  The Fingerless Glove Fanatics (FGF) Sock group on Ravelry is having a purple kal and a designer kal.  I can do the designer socks in purple and meet the requirements for both groups!  double sweet!!!   BUT, I will restrain myself and not cast on for these until next week... probably...maybe...)

(The Sock Knitter's Anonymous (SKA) group is knitting a mystery sock this month.  I am finding it very hard not to cast on for it too.)

WIP Wednesday

Why my YOSS June
 is not finished...
 and a close up
(they are addicting!)  I do have my YOSS JUL sock yarn wound.  And surprise!! it will also count towards July's Solid Sock Group sock too.  sweet!

WIP Wednesday

Socks!!!
Still working on socks already on the needles
And....
You didn't think I could resist starting a new sock forever did ya?

June's pattern for Year of Sock Stash (YOSS) is CookieA's Monkey Socks. I've been wanting to make a pair for myself.
Sounds like a good time to make them.

Traveling and knitting

By now you have been wondering what I've been up to and why I haven't blogged in f-o-r-e-v-e-r!

We went on a road trip. A very long road trip.  4,130 miles worth of road trip. Fifteen states in two weeks worth of road trip. We crossed over the Mississippi before it flooded and wondered if we'd be able to get back across it!

We got to see family (the purpose of the trip).  It was very hard to leave everyone but we did have a good visit.

And we did make it back across the swollen Mississippi River.

I made sure I took plenty of traveling knitting. Probably way too much but hey, you never know. My plan was to work on sock mates and finish a scarf. I did not get as much knitting done as I thought.  BUT... I did finally finish March's Year of Stash Socks and one scarf.

And I am working on the mate to this sock....

Now I'll catch up with my blog reading.

Yarn is Cherry Tree Hill Supersock, colorway Martha's Vineyard

(I never did get a sock started in February. And I still have a lot of knitting going on but I did get a plain vanilla sock started for YOSS March sock.)

Just in time...

...yep, finished just in time

St Brigid's Carnamoyle Stockings in Lion Brand Wool (worsted weight) color Midnight Blue

I finally have a pair of socks finished in time for the Solid Socks ravelry group. Yea! my name will be entered into the random number generator for a chance to win some sock yarn!!

And, these same socks count with the YOSS group!
(a 2fer!! can't beat it!)  but there is no prize for this group. The object is to use up some of your stash.

Not only do these socks have a cool cable, they have heel, arch and sole shaping!

I have never done this type of shaping on a sock so it was interesting to try. Of course when you read the pattern you're like, huh?  I've learned you just have to do it.

So you decrease on the heel stitches at the same time as decreasing for the gusset.  After all the gusset decreases are done, you increase for the arch shaping.  This extra shaping really makes the socks hug your foot. Now I just need to figure out the math so I can do this shaping with sock yarn.

I wonder how many of my wip socks I can get done before February 1st?  The Solid Socks group start a new mystery sock in February, the YOSS (year of stash socks) start a new sock for February, and I haven't even checked Sock Knitters Anonymous to see what the sock is for February.

Decisions.... decisions....

Year of Stash Socks

You know how I like to knit socks (ok, ok, maybe a little obsessive about knitting socks) and I have a small stash collection of yarn (yep, small compared to some you out there).  Well, I joined the Ravelry group "Year of Stash Socks." They even have a webpage! Check it out.

So come January I will try to knit a pair of socks a month using some of my collected yarn. And if I'm really lucky, the sock will count towards either the Solid Socks Ravelry group monthly sock or the Sock Knitters Anonymous  Ravelry group monthly sock!  But... it won't count as the mystery sock. So I will still be trying to knit mystery socks every other month too!

I know, I know, I've probably bitten off more than I can knit chew. But it will be fun to see how many pairs of socks I can knit over the next year.
